Upskilling the Process managers

For a global client in the pharmaceutical sector with 50.000+ employees, Mannaz was asked to design and deliver a programme that became “Leading the Team for Process Managers”.

The program aimed to equip these professionals with the skills necessary to lead, motivate, and develop their teams effectively.

The challenge

The course targeted experienced managers responsible for leading a team of participants, focusing on those who manage larger and more intricate processes. The training was structured to provide maximum flexibility, allowing participants to follow a learning journey tailored to their busy schedules.

The participants use both parts of the project manager toolbox and the leadership toolbox to achieve their goals, so this was incorporated into the program.

The process/solution

We decided to follow a blended approach of Instructor lead Kick off, virtual preparations, 1:1 feedback to 360-degree leadership profile, 2 full days together physically, virtual kick-on session and putting into action plan.

The results

The participants emerged from the training with a robust understanding of team leadership, equipped with strategies to motivate their teams and lead them to success. The training also fostered a culture of continuous improvement, with participants developing individual action plans to support the implementation of their new skills in their respective roles.

The Long-term achievements are Business impact, in the form of more capable Process managers.

The process/solution - extended

We decided to follow a blended approach of Instructor lead Kick off, virtual preparations, 1:1 feedback to 360-degree leadership profile, 2 full days together physically, virtual kick-on session and putting into action plan.

  • A cornerstone of the program was the 360° Project Leadership Profile (PLP), which offered participants individual feedback from their respondents across four critical dimensions: management factors, leadership factors, team leadership factors, and personal factors. This was followed up with one-to-one feedback from the facilitator helping participants gain insights into their strengths and areas for development as process managers.
  • The face-to-face training was a blend of theory and practice, designed to address the unique challenges faced by process managers. It focused on enhancing the participants’ ability to facilitate their teams, bolstering their confidence in their roles as informal leaders. Key areas such as conflict resolution, negotiation, motivation, and leading the scientific discussions through listening for key words and game mastering were covered. The learning journey alternated between plenary dialogues, practical exercises, and personal reflections on leadership dilemmas, ensuring a holistic learning experience.
  • To reinforce the learning outcomes, the training included digital preparation activities, such as articles and videos, complemented by individual reflections. These pre-training materials ensured that participants were well-prepared and engaged from the outset.
  • A unique aspect of the training was the leadership learning lab, where the participants were encouraged to reflect on their personal leadership dilemmas together with their colleagues. This introspective exercise helped them reflect on each other’s dilemmas and identify different angles, paving the way for personal growth and development.
